Need
Newham has one of the highest ethnic mixes in London. Many of the kids in Newham come from disadvantaged backgrounds and lack opportunity. There is a wide interest across all ages in community organisations and team sports. However, in order for young people to participate effectively when given the opportunity they need guidance, support and leadership in order to feel welcome and part of the establishment.

Genesis Youth is an unincorporated association with young voluntary adults of similar ethnicity and backgrounds. The senior members are qualified professionals who have a track record of involvement in community organisations and team sports from grass roots to professional level. Based on their origins they are perfectly suited to run such a semi-closed project and act as role models for the kids.

Aim
To provide guidance, support and leadership to youngsters through sports opportunities in Newham

Objectives
•  Generate funding to run project effectively and consistently

•  Teach leadership and teamwork to members

•  Provide mentoring for members and improve self esteem

•  Provide useful contacts for members to develop sporting talent and education

•  Establish youth teams of highly competitive standard

•  Compete weekly in local leagues

•  Compete annually in summer National and Regional tournaments

•  Promote organisation

•  Ensure child protection and equal opportunities policies are in place
